What is CBT and is it right for me?

12 February 2026

What CBT is, in plain language

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It makes you observe the thoughts that lead to specific feelings and behaviours. It allows you to change how you interpret a situation — and as you change that, you change how you feel and how you act.

How a session actually looks

Sessions are structured but conversational. We set your objectives, work through something specific, and use concrete tools that you try in between sessions for a sustainable approach. For example, the "detective" tool helps you observe your thoughts and "play" detective by finding facts that are for and against those thoughts.

What it helps with

CBT is well-suited to anxiety, phobias, burnout, and perfectionism, amongst others. The more we understand our thought patterns, the better we can adapt and change our behaviours.

How to know if it is right for you

If you want a sustainable approach — something concrete and actionable, tools rather than just insight — and if you are willing to try things between sessions, CBT is likely a good fit.
